At Pegasus Aquatics Masters’ LCM Invitational this July, Cindy was honored as the recipient of the 2025 USMS South Central Zone Jesse Coon Award.

Established in 2006, the Jesse Coon Service Award celebrates a South Central Zone member who has carried forward Jesse’s legacy of joyful encouragement, support for swimmers of all abilities, and genuine passion for the sport. This year, we are honored to recognize one of North Texas’ most dedicated volunteers, Cindy Myer, whose service exemplifies those same values.

Cindy has served on the North Texas LMSC Board for over a decade in a wide range of roles. She has led as North Texas’ Fitness Chair, taken a leadership role on the LMSC’s Competition & Clinic Committee, and most recently stepped into the role of Vice Chair. She is consistently the first to advocate for LMSC members and the first to volunteer when a project or initiative needs support. She oversees North Texas’ quarterly workouts and clinics throughout the year and has single-handedly managed the LMSC’s Go the Distance program for the past nine years – one of North Texas’ most popular fitness initiatives.

Although open water swimming isn’t her favorite, Cindy is always the first to show up and volunteer at every North Texas open water event. For the past four years, she has been the friendly face greeting swimmers with tacos as they exit the water at North Texas’ annual Swim de Mayo event.

It may seem like she devotes every spare moment to volunteering, yet she has still logged more than 500 swims in the USMS results database. Her love for our sport and our community is unmistakable—and it’s that enthusiasm that fuels her commitment to making masters swimming a better experience for everyone.

Cindy, thank you for all that you’ve done, all that you do, and all that you continue to do.  The South Central Zone is honored and proud to present you with this year’s Jesse Coon Award!
