2024 North Texas Go the Distance Program

  • And now, the reason why we’ve encouraged you to enter GTD.  For over 15 years, the NTLMSC recognized GTD as a way to “give back” to our Membership so we developed a reward system paying individuals and teams for the yardage recorded.  The program remained relatively unchanged until this year when we decided to change it up in the hopes of attracting more individual and club participation.

    Individual Incentives for North Texas Participants

    Quarterly Drawings:  3 names will be drawn at random every quarter for a $50 Xtreme Swim gift card.

    • To be eligible for our quarterly drawings, swimmer must meet the eligibility requirement of swimming a minimum of 10 miles (17,600 yards) in each month of the quarter.
    • Previous quarter winners will not qualify (i.e. a swimmer can only ‘win’ once per year).
    • Yardage will be pulled from the USMS GTD report website on April 1 (1Q), July 1 (2Q),October 1 (3Q) and January 1, 2025 for 4Q.

    Quarterly winners to be announced via email and social media within two weeks of the close of every quarter.

    Year End Awards for the Top 3 Swimmers who swam the most miles.

    • First Prize $120 Xtreme gift card
    • Second Prize $100 Xtreme gift card
    • Third Prize $75 Xtreme gift card

      Yardage totals will be pulled from USMS GTD records on April 1 (1Q), July 1 (2Q), October 1(3Q) and January 1, 2025 for 4Q using the same report listed above.

    2024 Winners to be announced via email and social media by January 15th, 2025.

    Incentive for Clubs to Encourage Participation

    All registered North Texas Clubs receives $0.07 cents per mile swum, based on eligible swimmers. (example: if your eligible swimmers collectively complete 2,000 miles in a year, your Club will receive $140 from North Texas).

    Eligibility qualification are the same as for individual swimmers noted above.  Swimmers with less than 10 miles in each month of the quarter will not count towards the club award. Miles to be tabulated and checks to be mailed out to club teams at the conclusion of every quarter.

    2024 NEW Club Kicker:  Clubs achieving 25% of their registered membership (as of each Q) with GTD swimmer eligibility, will receive a payout of $0.09 per mile for that quarter.
